Wall Mount Cabinets: Space Saving Storage Units
The main advantage of installing a wall mount cabinet is that it saves a lot of
space that can otherwise be used for storing other items. It is understandable,
therefore, that not a few homeowners choose to have wall mount cabinet instead
of free-standing units.
A wall mount cabinet also gives the room an organized and uncluttered look.
Wall mount cabinets are the perfect fixtures for bathrooms, living rooms,
kitchens and home offices. Wall mount cabinets are especially appealing to
homeowners who live in cramped apartments, as they are installed at eye level
and subconsciously give a feeling of wider floor spaces.
Necessary equipment for mounting wall cabinets
The materials you should keep handy before installing a wall mount cabinet
are: a scrap piece of wood for hanging the cabinet; a table saw; wood glue;
screws; a drill; and an inch-thick block of wood, having about the same width as
the work piece and a fifth of the length of the work piece.
How to install a wall mount cabinet
First, set the table saw blade at one inch. After tilting the saw blade to a
45-degree angle, make a single cut down the middle section of the wood block.
After gluing the pieces together, screw one block to the top of the work piece
as the 45-degree beveled side faces down. The other block should be screwed to
the wall; when hung, the beveled side should face up. To ensure that the wood
piece fits correctly, the work piece should be firmly held into place during
installation.
Cabinet manufacturers and makers of accessories offer modular systems using
counter tops, base cabinet segments and wall cabinets mounted on vertical
tracks, which can be adjusted manually or with the help of a motor. There are
also other options such as hardware that makes use of remote controls or manual
cranking for easy adjustment. There are also devices such as gliding units that
pull down – these provide easy access to wall mount cabinet shelves. Other new
innovations in the furniture industry include wall mount cabinets that allow
bi-fold base cabinet doors to open fully, allowing maximum leg room for seated
users. There are also state-of-the art step stools that are conveniently folded
away under the base cabinet to provide for optimum use of space. |
